Tomorrow People 1.02, Arrow 2.02, Criminal Minds 9.04

The Tomorrow People 1.02 In Too Deep
The character development is impressive, especially since it's only the second episode. John is sticking to his alpha male leader role constantly watching out for everybody's well being. He also understands the concept of limits and when to hold back to ensure their safety. Cara is the strong female with good judgement from what we've seen. I think she will be more of an emotional decision maker as opposed to strategic.

This episode has Nick Eversman (Missing) guest starring, and I didn't notice it was him until he finally moved his angry, emo hair out of his face haha! I wonder if he will play a more predominant role as future episodes air. I loved him in Missing, but then again ANYTHING with Ashley Judd searching for her missing son is always a good watch. Too bad that show didn't get picked up for a second season... my apologies for reminiscing on past shows I hoped would have better ratings.

Arrow 2.02 Identity
I just want to say upfront I'm tired of all the island flashbacks that go on during an episode. It slows down the story and can easily make me lose interest if they don't bounce back to present time.I didn't know Kevin Alejandro (True Blood) was going to be here. I wonder if he will become a show regular. Starling City lacks a villain figure with the Merlyns out of the picture.

It's also good Roy is getting an opportunity to help the greater good without being in danger. All Thea wanted was for him to stop putting his life at risk and now they're able to come to a resolution. He most likely won't keep away from fighting if he remains partially involved.

The ending of the episode was excellent, I know Laurel is generally all around angry so of course a daughter of a cop would do something like that. I'm hoping next week's episode picks up right where it left off and not with another island flashback.

Criminal Minds 9.04 To Bear Witness
David Anders (Heroes, Once Upon a Time) is an excellent guest star. It was so intense and he scared all that was secure and happy in me! J.J. knows their new supervisor for reasons unknown! The situation is From a three year old open case but I am wondering what their history is. Rossi is so smart, I noticed the untouched elevator button as well. Rossi will find out anything, he's written books and cooked them Italian dinner!

Sunday Fundays!

The Walking Dead 4.01 30 Days Without an Accident
As per my expectations, the season premier for The Walking Dead was informative and less action packed. I like the gradual change and growth within the group. People have a structure to follow where they are able to survive together.

How about Rick when he's on his own? I think it's good to see he's the leader who remains human. He is still emotional, still seeks the advice of those he trusts and still makes mistakes. His scenes in the episode showed his vulnerability and growth as a leader. I absolutely love all of this. I can't wait to see the development of the sheriff this season.

I've got a major question, which I hope gets answered soon if it is something to watch out for. The make up and set department are magnificent, and I've seen a change with a particular zombie at the beginning in front of the prison fence. I noticed the eye sockets were coming out of the face with blood stains on the face. I'm thinking maybe with the lack of food left, are the zombies going to die out on their own? It's my imagination thinking of how the film 28 Weeks Later started with the disease dying from starvation. I pieced the theory together and think it may be a good one if the people don't kill each other as opposed to zombies killing people.

Once Upon a Time 3.03 Quite a Common Fairy
I am such a sucker for the story of Peter Pan in Neverland so I am biased on my love for this season. This back story made season two flow so well into this one. I am very impressed with how they've switched around character peresonas as well.

Everyone is connected at one point and the change in typical character traits works so well. I admire the consistency through out this show with relevant flashbacks and present day (unlike Arrow, the flashbacks are terribly boring). I can't wait to see what the back story for Captain Hook will be. He's already one of my favourite characters and I expect to be surprised since he had a wonderful storyline last season.

Last but not least, Tinkerbell and Robin Hood look like they'll have a greater impact in the coming episodes. Really excited for their stories to really develop.

Both great shows to watch during this Thanksgiving weekend =)

New TV show!

I absolutely love the fall season. Crisp wind, sweater weather and new fall shows!

During the school year, I always looked forward to the brand new television shows and Halloween specials (come the last week of October, you'll see my inner child come out). I'm so happy the TV stations have picked up great shows this time around.

My summary ahead of the Pilot episode for The Tomorrow People may contain some spoilers, but I like to keep it at a minimum.

The Tomorrow People 1.01 Pilot
I saw all sorts of print advertisements and posts on twitter and thought I'd tune in.

I think this show can be compared to X-Men with having genetic mutations. I think this show will work well since the mutations are simple and easy to keep track of. The protagonist Stephen Jameson has the classic Peter Parker status in school being bottom of the social food chain. He also goes home and has issues with being raised by a single parent struggling financially and a younger brother with the average life.

Through the episode you learn he is born naturally with genetic mutated 'powers', just like with X-Men characters, and there are others in the rest of the world just like him. A group of them stick together, calling themselves the Tomorrow People, and live underground in hiding from the enemy called Ultra.

We learn everybody has ulterior motives and promise their intentions for Stephen are for the better. Both sides clearly have secrets and aren't telling the whole story. He makes his decision by the end of the episode and he reassures he knows what he's doing. I believe it, otherwise there would be no point in talking about this show.

I'm liking the change in genre of this TV show particularly because it's not one with supernatural creatures. I'm not bashing the current shows that do have them (I watch Being Human and True Blood myself), but why watch another vampire based show? It's like watching the millions of doctor drama shows on air.

On another note, I had no idea Aaron Yoo was in this show! Totally didn't recognize him with all the facial hair haha! Stephen's mom was also in Covert Affairs and the leader of Ultra is in pretty much everything else I watched in the past (LOST, Dexter, Supernatural and Being Human).

As you can tell, I watch a lot of TV shows =P

Rest Well YeYe

I just lost my YeYe earlier this morning.

He's suffered so much and I'm happy he is no longer in pain. It hurts the most to see the strongest of your four grandparents to have something as terrible as cancer deteriorate their body. I am very grateful for the time we have had together and the memories I've shared with him. Him and my Ama helped raised me and will always be a part of me.

Losing a grandparent is all very new to me and I know I am very blessed to have all four of mine. I know that the next little while, I have to learn to move on and try to cope with my loss. I don`t know how long I'll be away, but I will be back. Blogging is the last thing I want to do for the time being.

Be Strong YeYe...

I was away for the last week in the Philippines because my YeYe (grandpa) has throat cancer. He refused to follow through with chemotherapy and any treatment when he was diagnosed with it in the fall. We just celebrated his 90th birthday last week and we had a priest come recite a prayer for him.

I flew back out on Sunday and he got worst when my parents and I flew out. We reached Hong Kong and found out he was bleeding out so much. His liver was bleeding into his colon, so when he went to the washroom, everything was all blood. By the time we reached Vancouver for our second layover, my Ama (grandma) was rushed to the hospital (she suffered a stroke a year ago and since then has been in and out of the hospital throughout the year. She can no longer verbally communicate).

I Skype called with my YeYe this morning on dad`s tablet. I could see he was in so much pain, just lying in the bed. It was a hospital bed and my aunt and uncle (dad`s younger sister and brother) had just flown in from Los Angeles and Switzerland. Dad flew out this afternoon as well. I just hope my YeYe is okay.

Ivan & Alyosha at The Garrison

I'm so happy that I went to this show on a whim. My friend Stacey had a house warming party at her new place with Dana, so I made sure to swing by before heading to the show downtown. I was recommended to this band by my friend Chloe. Their sound is very mellow and calming. I guess you can say they are an indie band but their music is catchy and easy to sing a long to.

I couldn't resist, I had to buy their CD. The band was nice enough to sign it for me and I appreciated it so much. They've been through a lot, having their band equipment stolen back in Atlanta. I'm glad to see the previous band they've toured with lent them all their gear to complete the remainder of the tour. I can't believe people car-jack an entire van full of band equipment, it's awful!

The spirit of Ivan & Alyosha is comforting to witness. When a band sticks together to play their music, it shows their fans to never give up and to keep on going on. More artists and bands should be like them =).

American Authors and Royal Teeth at The Drake

I last saw Royal Teeth when they opened for The Rocket Summer at the end of March at the MOD Club. When I heard they were coming back to Toronto, I couldn't pass this up.

They brought Brooklyn based band American Authors along to open up for them. Too bad they did not have their EP recorded and ready for this show (they told us they are still producing it). It was a lot of fun with drums and guitar embedded in their music. Their sound is different than Royal Teeth though.

Royal Teeth has a more upbeat melodic tempo to their sound with Nora's voice (one of the lead singers). When I first heard them sing at the MOD Club, I was moved by her and Gary's singing voice. I can't explain it, you need to see them life or her their music when they release their CD. This show was a lot of fun, and both bands put on such a great show!

As you can very well tell form my pictures, I was in the front the whole time.
