Reign 1.10 Sacrifice

Reign 1.10 Sacrifice
Liking the consistency following last week's episode. I see Bash sticks to his word how he never wanted Francis' place on the throne or in the bloodline. Poor guy is trying his best to stay alive but it looks like everybody loyal to Catherine is out to get him. At first I didn't want to believe Catherine was behind the death plots once again and that the twist could be Francis was the one trying o kill Bash as any good tragedy would turn out. But of course, it was the mother with a poison dagger as the weapon of choice.

Mary shows her leadership in the kingdom very well, especially in the scene she stands her ground against Catherine. After that point, I hope she sticks to her gut when it comes down to actually ruling with Bash.

Bash has a half sister! I expected it would be a sister because of how protective she was when the guard forced her to speak in front of the court. If she was a girl Bash got pregnant (which you could see was Mary and Lola's first thought by their facial reactions), she would have shown up earlier in the season. Even if it were for blackmail or trying to get some sort of deal with his of his position in the court; she didn't look like a girl he kept as a secret love affair. It's nice to see Bash looks out for her even with the distance forced between them. The circumstances of giving birth in the woods looked tough. She had nobody but Bash, Mary and the trusty Pagan guard. I expected Mary to be the one delivering the baby since she stayed in the convent haha. Bash had to see another one of his family die, when will it end?!

Mary really freaked out at the Pagan prayer there! Of course she's used to Catholic practices, but she needed to pull it together. Poor horse used as a sacrifice. Bash gave her his word and he doesn't have anything to hide from Mary. He tells her everything upfront if there's anything within question; this is another difference between how Francis and Mary functioned.

Bash evidently treats Mary equally with no ulterior motive (of course, it was never his idea to ascend the throne and change the bloodline). He doesn't have any interest in prioritizing the country or French court above Mary. I'm very interested to see how far this season will go with this new direction in the story line. I'm sure if the writers and producers want to stick to some historical accuracy, they'll bring Mary back to Francis somehow.
