Reign 1.02 Snakes in the Garden
Another Thursday TV show that has sucked me in! We learned so much about the deep secrets and plots with almost everybody in the castle before even making it to the dinner!

I wonder if the mysterious Clarissa is a dead spirit or a live prisoner. The king and queen don't address her in passing and the only ones who interacted with her so far are Mary, Charles and Nostradamus. She seems to be in the right place, protecting Mary and pointing signs to perpetrators. I feel with the bag on her head, it covers up her identity. She could also be an abused child either because she's not rightfully in the royal bloodline or may have supernatural abilities like Sebastian/Bash (I like this theory better). Witchcraft was persecuted during this time, so it makes sense to dramatize the plot with magic. If Clarissa is a persecuted witch living in the castle, she may also have a connection with Bash.
That forest scene was excellent! Both brothers together for the purpose of putting Mary's mind at ease in the late night. Bash knew what he was walking into whereas Francis was under the impression that the forest was safe on royal grounds. When Bash slit his hand and spoke a ritualistic spell over flowers, I knew this had to be good! He either learned on his own or possibly from a mentor. If this is true I want it to be his mom, the king's mistress.
The mistress issues with the king aren't appealing to me. The king gets to do what he wants, whenever he wants; we already know this is how it was in a patriarchal kingdom. Throwing in Kenna as a side mistress will probably cause issues once Mary and the rest of her friends suspect it.
Looking at the bigger picture, I can see this series showing promise on how broad it can go with the story!
